Therapy for Black, Indigenous, & Other People of Color

Helping the global majority release some of the burdens of family and society

Life as a Black person, indigenous person, or other person of color, (BIPOC), in an inherently racist world can feel impossible sometimes. Many people who start therapy feel stuck under the weight of expectations and stigmas, and when you’re a member of the BIPOC community, that weight is even heavier. Perhaps you can relate. Maybe you feel like you want to escape your life or you're noticing that you complain a lot about feeling stressed, tired, and unfulfilled.

Stuck in negativity and feeling worn down, you may feel like life is exhausting.

Do you feel stressed, tired, or overwhelmed?

Do any of the following resonate with you?

  • You struggle with the weight of everyone's expectations.

  • You feel like the world isn't in your corner.

  • You're exhausted and run-down a lot of the time.

  • Your friends, coworkers, and loved ones in the global minority never seem to really get it.

If these sound true for you, I want you to know that even though you may feel alone, many Black, indigenous, and other people of color need extra support, especially considering the extra challenges you may be facing. It's not selfish to prioritize caring for yourself. You don't have to always prioritize your family’s needs or society’s expectations over your own needs.

Therapy can help you break the cycles of generational trauma

It’s possible to feel better. Imagine a life where you could...

  • Really be present in the good moments.

  • Stop worrying all the time.

  • Improve your relationship with yourself and those you choose to share yourself with.

  • Create a more meaningful life based on who you are and what you desire.

Step back and focus on healing

Therapy can help you start moving towards your ideal life with less stress and more fulfillment. You will learn to prioritize yourself so you can take care of you and let go of some of the expectations put upon you.

Even if you are not sure how therapy could help you, the right therapist with the right experience may be able to help.

Let’s be real for a second though: the world can't be fixed with therapy. But we can work on creating more space and peace for you within this world. Space that can't be taken away. Peace that can't be broken by burdens that weren't yours to begin with.

My name is Kristina Jones, and I am an anti-racist therapist and proud Latina who is here to help.

How therapy works

Therapy with me consists of 50-minute, one-on-one sessions that help you dive deeper into your healing journey. And I’m not just a mindless blank slate kind of therapist either. I will ask questions and share thoughts when it's helpful, playing an active role and helping guide you toward inner solutions and greater peace.

I provide a safe, accepting space so that you will feel comfortable sharing your struggles with me. We work on current and past traumas at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You will learn how to let go of the burdens that weren’t yours to begin with.

Therapy can positively change your thinking, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors. It can help you let go of what’s holding you back.
